Here is a short story on my '56 Nostalgic ride / Custom / Pro Street Combo. This car incorporates the best of all three. The Body retains the Classic Shoebox style with the exception of the shaved door handles and badging. The underside of the car has narrowed stock frame rails to 41-1/2 inches to accept a Ford nine-inch axle from a '72 Lincoln Continental c/w Disc Brakes. The axle is located with a custom Leonard Lopez four link, a pair of Alden coil overs and track locator bar. A six point welded roll cage and a 15 gal Harwood fuel cell were incorprated. The front end is stock except for the '74 Nova disk brakes, Corvette master cylinder and a '69 Buick Riviera smoothed out steering column. The wheels are 15-inch Drag Stars, 5 inch front and 14-inch rear. The PPG paint is Frustration Yellow and White. Auto Meter instruments fill the Dash and a
Grant wheel does the turning. All of the glass is PPG tinted. Up front is a '78 454 S&S Racing built with a stock steel crank, 10.5:1 pistons, '71 square port heads, a Crane cam and valvetrain and an electronic Unilite distributor. The induction looks like a piece of jewelery with a single Edelbrock 750 cfm Performer sitting atop a matching polished Edelbrock Performer manifold. The carb is topped with a custom billet air cleaner which is ball mill finished. The exhaust is simple with a pair of Williams headers treated with a HPC hi-temp coating. The Flo passes thru a pair of Flomaster 3 inch mufflers. Power passes thru a Turbo 400 fitted with a 2200rpm stall converter, shift kit & B&M shifter. An emergency disc brake is added to the driveshaft.
"BELIEVE IT OR NOT" this car has never been raced , however I might be talked into it once just for the sheer thrill of seeing what it will do!
